Chœur des enfants de Montréal is recruiting singers for the 2008-2009 season Listen to us >> Practicing with the OSM and Concerto Della Donna Going on a choir retreat JUNIOR CHOIR (6 to 9 years old) SENIOR CHOIR (9 to 17 years old) CHAMBER CHOIR (17 choristers from the Senior choir) The choir performs a minimum of three concerts every year and includes theatrical musicals as part of their programs. The choir will be singing with the OSM at their Christmas concerts at Notre-Dame Basilica for the third year in a row. Iwan Edwards, awarded the Order of Canada for his work with children and music, is the choir’s artistic director. Along the way, choristers get a solid education in music as part of a group of talented singers whose hard work is winning local and national attention from the press, radio & television. Audition dates for the 2008/2009 season are: SENIOR CHOIR: Monday, June 9, 2008 Tuesday, June 10, 2008 Thursday, September 4, 2008 Monday, September 8, 2008 Thursday, September 11, 2008 JUNIOR CHOIR: Wednesday, June 11, 2008 Wednesday, September 10, 2008 Audition requirements for the senior choir: At the audition, each child is asked to sing a song of his/her choice and is given some vocal exercises to determine his/her vocal range. Audition requirements for the junior choir: Have a desire to sing and commit to learning the music by heart. Rehearsals are held at the NDG Community Centre, 3757 Prud’homme (on the main floor) between September and June as follows: • Senior Choir – Mondays and Thursdays, 4:15-6:00 p.m. • Chamber Choir – Thursdays, 6:10-6:55 p.m. • Junior Choir – Wednesdays, 4:15-5:30 p.m. Senior Choir fees – $325 per year includes rehearsals, sheet music rental, performances and a weekend at a music camp in November 2008. Junior Choir fees – $275 per year includes rehearsals, sheet music rental and performances. Bursaries are available so that any child may participate, regardless of family situation.
